Welcome to Friendly WiFi
Friendly WiFi is the government-initiated safe certification standard for public WiFi. The Friendly WiFi symbol tells you where the Public WiFi service meets minimum filtering standards – particularly in areas where children are present.
The certification is available across all sectors, including retail, hospitality, transport and the education sector.
Approved venues and locations worldwide, including transport vehicles, displaying the Friendly WiFi Approved symbol have demonstrated that their service blocks access to websites containing pornography, child sexual abuse material, and web pages identified by the Internet Watch Foundation or other reputable list providers as hosting indecent images of children.
Blocking access to such content is the pre requirement for attaining the certification and using the symbol. Providers of public WiFi services may choose to implement additional filtering and safety measures beyond the requirements of the Friendly WiFi certification, which are defined within their own WiFi policies and are not controlled by Friendly WiFi.
